Enqi is Able to "Self-Feed" Now!

Mimi had been “training” me to “self-feed” (i.e. take meals by myself) over the past month. Yeah! I showed good progress, albeit room for more improvement for “less mess”. Hehe… Now, I have the habit of taking meals myself and refuse help. Mimi got me two new bibs that have “more catchment area” for “dropped food”. It’s really good! Mimi is happy because she can "eat peacefully" now @ meals. :P

Eating my “ai xin” porridge!

Yummy!

My favourite ice-cream desert from Swenson after dinner! :P I like the new flavour today; strawberry sobe
Today is my Kelvin Xiao shushu's birthday! Happy Birthday Shushu! Enjoy your day huh! Good luck to your first job after NS. Cheers...Though you always like to "touch my hair" to irrirate me, I know you are nice to me. :P Can you load more cartoons on your laptop for Xuan jie and I to watch when we are at Ah Ma's house?

We Just Got a Car! :)

Papa had been toying with the idea of getting a car for the past year. Finally, he woke up at the “wrong side” of the bed and made up his mind to get an “Off Peak Car (OPC)”. It was more of a “family needs basis” that triggered Papa’s notion to purchase the car.

Papa does not need to drive to office for the time being because his office is well located in town. Hence, a OPC suit our needs. However, he may convert it to a "normal car" if the need arises in the future.

Being a typical accountant, Papa worked out his sums for a “typical weekend car” within his budget and comfort level. Japanese cars were not within his list because he feels that it does not “make sense” to pay so much for an “OPC” car. He feels that everyone has their preference. The most imperative thing is that we are comfortable with the car.

We bought the latest KIA Cerato 1.6 SX series two Sundays ago. The car has received good and encouraging reviews. It is a nice car with continental car features but at “Korea car” prices. It is designed by an ex- Volkswagen chief designer who has joined Kia. Papa had initially wanted the basic model. However, the additional safety features of the SX series enticed him to pay a $5K premium for the SX series. This is because the main purpose of the car is “a family car”. He hopes that Mimi and me can be “more comfortable” on our night grocery shopping and weekend trips. I overheard Mimi said: “For Qi again!” :)

We are excited and look forward to our new car. We expect to take delivery of the car in another 2 weeks time because we managed to get the COE successfully.

Qi @ “test drive”!
A… before that, Papa, please brush up your driving skills because you have not drive “actively” for the past 9 years. He had a quick “2 hours crash course” from shushu the night before he went for his “test drive”.

Papa and Mimi felt sad that they could not drive Ah Zuo around now that we are getting our car. Papa had told Ah Zuo before that if he drives, he will drive her around often for meals and shopping trips. Papa sighed; "Do it while you can. Do not procrastinate".

Yeah! :)

Thanks for all the well wishes from aunties and uncles who came to know about my recent hospitalization stay from the blog. We really appreciate it. I am doing very well now. In fact, Mimi noticed that my diet intake seems to have “increase a lot” recently. I am always asking for milk even if I finished my food. Hehe… :)

A piece of good news to share from Papa! He submitted his 19,000 words thesis to his school about a month ago! Yeah! Papa is a free man now! He managed to complete his program in about slightly more than 2 years, ahead of the original schedule of 3years. Papa told Mimi that he is very happy that he could spend more time with us. He could not help smiling when he recalls the late nights that he had put up to work on his thesis and with Mimi and I sleeping soundly next to him. Hehe.. Mimi is very happy too. Papa gave Mimi credit that she was Papa’s loyal supporter for both his graduate and post graduate studies in the past years.

Papa also told me that Ah Zuo was his "full time" study nanny who had ensure that his uniforms were neatly ironed, had clean school shoes, woke up in time for classes, prepared breakfast and coffee for him since he was a kid through his undergraduate days.

“Cool” Qi! :P

Mimi finally bought a new Nokia N86 phone to replace her “stupid Omnia touch screen phone” over the last weekend. Mimi does not like the phone because she finds it very “non-user friendly”. After 11 months of torture, she finally decided to get the “traditional” Nokia phone. One of the main features of N86 that attracts her was the “8 mega pixel Carl Zessis lens” camera feature. She can take nice pictures and videos of me! Hehe… she “beats” Papa’s N85 which is only “5 mega pixel”. She likes her new phone.

Mimi’s new white N86 phone contrasts with Papa’s black N85 phone. :P

Qi Was Sick.

If you have realized, Papa and Mimi have not updated my blog for more than a week. The norm is usually a weekly update. This is because Qi was sick, really sick for almost 10 days. :(

I had a high fever on a Sunday night and “inflamed” gums about 2 weeks ago. Papa and Mimi brought me to see the doctor at the “A&E” department at KK Women and Child Hospital. Doctor diagnosed that it was a viral infection. However, the fever “fluctuated” and refused to subside. I lose my appetite and started to refuse to eat and drink (probably because of the ulcers and the “inflamed” gums).

I was back for the second time in the same clinic on a Friday. I waited for about 5 hours for the results of my blood and urine tests. Fortunately, everything was “okie”. However, I was back in the clinic again on the same Friday evening because I simply refused to drink or eat. Papa and Mimi were worried that I might get dehydrated. I had to be admitted to hospital for observation of fever and diet intake. For the next three days, Papa, Mimi and Ah Ma were “mentally distressed” as they tried to coax me to drink and eat to avoid putting me “on drip”(which they cannot bear to see me in pain). My response was encouraging until a nurse jeopardized their efforts.

Papa and Mimi “camped” at the hospital bed “24/7” with me. During the wee hours of the a Saturday night, one of the nurses tried to feed me with medication without waking Papa and Mimi. Papa and Mimi had always “been woken up” and feed me with medication. While the nurse feed me, I put up a struggle and was traumatized. I puked and simply puked any medication whenever I am given subsequently(even from Papa and Mimi).

Papa was so affected that he gave a strong feedback (or rather complaint) to the doctors and the sister of the ward. Papa and Mimi decided to bring me home to recuperate on the advice of the doctor (because my fever has subsided and water intake has increased).

Sigh.. I had about 10 episodes of diarhoea on the Sunday afternoon after I reached home. It was made worse that I refused to take food or drink. The last straw came when I puked all the food that I took for the day at 10 p.m. on the same day. Papa and Mimi sent me back again. Ah Gong, Ah Ma and Shushu who were at my home to take care of me, all agreed.

This time, it seems like a "drip" is inevitable. I was admitted again. Papa had to help to “restrain” me in the treatment room while the senior doctor tried to “drip me”. It was really “heart pain” for Papa and also for Mimi, Ah Ma, Ah Gong, Shushu who were outside the treatment room. I was shouting; “Qiqi don’t want! Help me! Help me”. :(

Fortunately, I managed to conquer the diarhoea bug and my gums got better (I had antibiotic cream applied on my gums instead). I am a strong girl. I was discharged on last Tuesday afternoon.

It was a “nightmare” for all of us in the family especially Papa, Mimi, Ah Gong and Ah Ma! Thanks to my shushu who was my "chauffeur", rushing "to and from" the hospital. Mimi put it as undesirable “5 days 4 night” holiday camp at KK Hospital”! Don’t worry, I am fine now! Mimi said that she will “feed me a lot” to gain the “kg” that I lost!

I am still as cheerful! A nurse had to "tie" up my right hand too to avoid me "pulling" the drip off.

Sob Sob.. It was painful!

I am versatile. I could use my feet to "hold" the PSP.

Explorer’s Adventure @ My Birthday!

Papa and Mimi decided to bring me the “Explorer” at Downtown East on my birthday. It is a first visit to one of the biggest indoor kids playground in Singapore! Yeah! We decided to sign up as members so that we could go again! Papa accompanied me for the “playground maze” and he lamented that it was really tiring. However, I was always beaming with energy, raring to go for another round Hehe…

Fun moments @ Explorer!

Enqi’s 2nd Year Old Mini Birthday Celebrations!

I had a 2 year old “mini” birthday celebrations @ home about two Saturday ago. Hehe… I was so excited and kept shouting; “Yes Yes” whenever Papa asked me if I want to “blow a Mickey Mouse cake”. Mimi obsevered that I looked so happy in the morning of the celebrations, shouting “Wah Wah” when I saw the birthday decorations and preparation work. :P Glimpse of the mini celebrations! Thanks for all the wonderful presents and "angbao" from my grandparents, aunty and uncles!

Princess Enqi @ 2 Years Old Already!

Yeah! I am 2 years old NOW! Time flies…Mimi said it was not long ago that we were in Disney Land@ Hong Kong to celebrate my 1 year old birthday.

Papa and Mimi have a simple wish; Qi to be a healthy and happy girl!

("Ai Xin" collage specially designed by Mimi. Papa who gave feedback on the poster, admits that he has no "artistic flair". Each small bubble represnts a monthly milestone of my growing story from 1 to 2 years old. Hehe...)

Mimi and Papa got me two sets of Logico Primo & Piccolo learning sets for my birthday presents. Mimi has ordered it through an on-line spree and hope it will be successful. Even though it is quite steep at $600, Mimi believes that it is a worthwhile investment. Mimi’s colleagues and friends have highly recommended it. Papa and Mimi promised me that they will “play and learn” with me to ensure that it will not become a “white elephant”. Check out the following link for description of the learning set. http://www.grobooks.com/products.html#primo

Papa & Mimi told me that they really enjoy parenthood with me, the naughty Qi! Yeah! Hehe… Papa has noticed that I have really “grown up”. My vocabulary increases by the day, able to comprehend more instructions and definitely more expressive (in fact, I will “give instructions” on my preferences nowadays! :P) Some of the little things that I do:

Qi: “Papa! Papa! Tie!”
Last week, I went to the wardrobe, pick up Papa’s tie and pass it to him while he was changing. He did not ask me to do it. Papa was shocked and happily put on the tie that I have chosen for him (It matched Papa shirt for the day!) :P

Qi: Mimi sleeps! Papa sleeps! Mimi pats!
@ Every night before I sleep. I will also insist that I give Papa and Mimi a peck on their cheeks.

Qi: Mimi, laptop! Laptop!

@ When I want to watch kids songs on British council website!

Mimi: Do you love Mimi?
Qi: Yes!
Papa: Do you love Papa?
Qi: Yes!

Qi: A… Papa’s there! Mimi there!
@ smiling happily when I see Papa or Mimi at the door when they are home

Qi: I don’t’ want!
I am very expressive nowadays to express my dislikes or intentions e.g. to change the DVD, food!
